wild in the country

So, what's been up with us?

Zio and I are both working hard on writing papers. Zio's also getting things moving regarding defending in the foreseeable future. I've been invited to give a talk at a conference in less then a month (in the Disneyland Grand Ballroom, no less). All told, things are going pretty well with our lives professionally at the moment. Life will become far more anxiety-inducing once Zio graduates and we have to figure out what to do next, but for the moment I'm just enjoying where I'm at and bracing for Zio's final push.

Boring, boring. Now on to the fun stuff.

We visited Amber last weekend and met her baby goats.

In addition to goats, Andrea met Amber's llama

and sheep

and pig (that we didn't take a good picture of, but he's really a sweetie).

Very good times.

Today we went to a public ale house and walked in the rain instead of cleaning our house. That's how our weekends often go. There are things we need to do and errands we need to run, yet we also want to maximally enjoy the time we have together as a family, when Zio and I can do fun things together with Andrea that we can't during the week when we're working and switching off parenting duty with one another.

The pictures came out well, I haven't many good pictures of Arnold, the pig, either. He is hard to photograph because of the type of fence he is behind and his lowness to the ground.
Glad you all came out, those goats are getting bigger every day!
