volcanos and other events

Zio is finally home.

He was half a world away for nine twelve days attending his Grandfather Vladimir's funeral. A volcano in Iceland extended his stay. Take that, technology.

Meanwhile, Andrea and I held down the fort back home, and we did better than I had expected. I managed to hit my stride by mid week juggling work and Andrea solo, so much so that last Friday I thought I totally had the hang of this single parenting thing. But after that second, unexpected weekend alone with Andryushka, I was spent. Monday and Tuesday left me chugging coffee like a maniac at work and lazily watching a few too many YouTube videos of Clifford the Big Red Dog with Andyushka during the evening. Needless to say, last night I was ecstatic to see Zio come walking through the door. As I type this he is getting Andrea ready for bed, and I am far more appreciative of co-parenting than I was a week and a half ago.

So. Andrea turns 2 in two days. In three days we will have Andrea's first real party. There will be banana cake with raspberry filling. And balloons. And a bunch of little kids running around. And maybe a string piñata.
